Crocodile Rock

The dive boat anchors on the top of the rocky reef between the Crocodile rock and the shore, where the depth is around 7 meters. The rock platform is deeply grooved and covered in several species of marine algae. Following the reef into the southern edge of the rock there is a natural amphitheatre with near vertical sides. Groupers and barracuda are common in this area.

San Dimitri Point

A shallow reef, where the dive boat is able to anchor in 6 meters. Inside of the rocky ledge there is a gully between the reef platform and the shore, where there is huge boulders forming swimthroughs. Once you exit this gully, you go to the right, where a cave at a depth of 30 meters is.

Cathedral Cave

Can be done from shore, but requires an arduous climb over the rock, down the steps and then along a snorkel swim. This site is best done by dive boat. The entrance to the cave is only 5 meters below the water and leads you through to a huge domed vault, where you can surface and light penetrates through small cracks in the rock. The interior of the cave’s sea bed is covered in massive boulders and the view to the outside blue of the ocean is breathtaking. The exit of the cave you can find in 21 meters.

Billinghust Cave

Because of some serious surge in the cave, this site has to be done by only very experienced divers in flat calm conditions. The entry to the cave you will find after a 2 meters jump and swim under the water. The cave has very little natural light penetration, that’s why torchlight is strongly recommended. The sides of the tunnel are covered in a multitude of differently colored sponges. After 50 meters swim one can surface inside the cave and cast the lights over the vaulted natural stone ceiling.

Reqqa Point Reef

This site is very popular with fishermen, so exercise caution. Depending on your wish access is either to the right or the left of the headland. The wall is near vertical in many places and is cut by numerous fissures, caves and crevices. On the submarine section of the headland are two chimneys or holes, which drop down through the wall. To the right of the sheltered inlet there is a chimney that drops from 6 m to 16 m, while on the left there is a more serious chimney, to be dived by more experienced divers.

Double Arch Reef

The entry point is over the very shallow water, dotted with hundreds of sea urchins. Once you reach the start of the wall at around 14 m keep to your right and follow it around until you reach the twin arches. The first smaller archway starts at 20 m and directly beneath it is the larger of the two, stretching to the sea bed 45 meters below. The outer reef is great for barracuda and groups.

HMS Southwold Stern

HMS Southwold a Hunt Class destroyer was launched on the 25/5/41. Hunt Class destroyer had a net tonnage of 1050 tons, and was 86 meters long; this destroyer had a top speed of 25 knots and was used for convoy escorts. HMS Southwold carried 3 x 2 barrel 4” guns one at the bow and 2 aft sections. She also carried anti-aircraft guns, and anti-submarine depth charges. HMS Southold lies in two sections the bow section is the largest piece, right up to the engine room approximately 40 meter in length is in a depth close to 65 meters completely on its starboard side. The stern section approximately 28 meters long is upright some 300 meters away from the bow section in 72 meters of water

Kondor class P29 has been scuttled off Cirkewwa in Malta. The East German Minesweeper sank just off Susies Pool on Tuesday the 14th of August.
P29 has server with the Armed Forces of Malta for over 12 years and were responsible for many offshore missions including asserting control over Malta´s Continental Shelf, anti-contraband missions, and numerous border control operations. Her sister ship, the P31 is planned to be scuttled off Comino later on.
The wreck sits upright at a maximum depth of 37 meters with the top reaching 12 meters. The wreck is found 150m from shore or to be precisely 100m from the drop off.
